Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC)

The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) is one of India’s largest railway infrastructure programmes, built to shift heavy freight traffic off congested passenger lines and onto a dedicated, high-capacity network. Within this corridor, DFCCIL Lot 102 covers the 102-kilometre civil, structural, and track works package on the Bhaupur–Khurja section, awarded to Tata Aldesa JV on a Design-Build Lump Sum basis.

The package involves the design and construction of a double-line railway, including formation in embankments and cuttings, ballast on formation, track works, major and minor structures, bridges, and buildings, together with complete testing. Design for the project is led by Sai Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd. – TYPSA JV (Systra Group).

  • Forms a critical link in the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, decongesting the heavily loaded Delhi–Howrah rail route.

  • Enables faster, heavier, and longer freight trains, cutting logistics costs and transit times for Indian industry.

  • Shifts freight from road to rail, reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

  • Strengthens national freight infrastructure supporting coal, steel, cement, and containerised cargo movement across northern India.

Ameenji Rubber Limited has been entrusted with the design, manufacturing, in-house testing, and supply of Expansion Joints for the major bridges on this section.

Expansion joints on a heavy-haul freight corridor must accommodate large structural movements while withstanding sustained axle loads far beyond conventional rail traffic. Ameenji’s joints were engineered to meet the project’s complex design criteria and stringent technical specifications, ensuring long-term durability, ride quality, and structural protection at every bridge deck junction.

Why Ameenji Was Chosen

  • Proven Performance: An established track record across Indian railway, metro, and highway bridge projects, with consistent on-time delivery and quality compliance.
  • Engineering Capability: Ability to design and manufacture expansion joints against complex, project-specific design criteria for major bridge structures.
  • In-House Testing Expertise: NABL-accredited laboratory meeting ISO/IEC 17025 standards, enabling full validation before dispatch.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of design consultant and employer requirements as per IRC, RDSO, and international bridge design specifications.
