Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL)

The project involves the construction of three Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) along with approach roads on the Amravati–Narkhed railway section in Maharashtra.

Client: Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL)
Contractor: M/s T & T Infra Limited

Project Locations:

  • Chandur Bazar – Km 721.324, SH-240, LC No. 27, Dist. Amravati
  • Varala – SH-240, LC No. 28, Dist. Amravati
  • Jalalkheda Road – Km 791.715, SH-248, LC No. 57, Dist. Nagpur

The scope includes the replacement of existing level crossings with grade-separated ROB structures, along with associated approach infrastructure to ensure seamless road integration.

The objective of the project is to enable uninterrupted road traffic movement across railway lines, improve safety at crossing points, and reduce delays caused by train operations.

This project addresses critical infrastructure constraints associated with level crossings in high-traffic corridors.

Its significance lies in:

  • City & Regional Infrastructure:
Eliminates at-grade railway crossings, improving safety and traffic management in key districts of Amravati and Nagpur.
  • Mobility & Connectivity:
Ensures continuous vehicular movement without dependency on train schedules, reducing travel time and congestion.
  • Economic Impact:
Supports smoother movement of goods and people, contributing to regional trade, logistics efficiency, and local economic activity.
  • Urban Development:
Facilitates structured road expansion and supports long-term transportation planning in growing urban and semi-urban areas.

The project contributes to systematic modernization of transport infrastructure, where safety and flow efficiency are critical.

Ameenji Rubber Limited supplied bridge bearing systems designed to support structural loads and controlled movement within the ROB structures.

Scope of Supply:

Elastomeric Bearings

  • Size: 550 × 300 × 74 mm
  • Configuration: Vulcanized with top and bottom plates
  • Standard: RDSO Drawing No. 11775/R1/5
  • Application: LC-28 (36 m span)

POT PTFE Bearings (Metallic Guided)

  • Type: Metallic guided bearings
  • Standard: RDSO Drawing No. 11775/R1/5
  • Application: LC-28 (36 m span)

Engineering Function:

These bearings accommodate:

  • Vertical load transfer
  • Rotational movement
  • Longitudinal and transverse displacements

This ensures that the bridge structure can respond to traffic loads, thermal expansion, and dynamic forces without inducing structural stress.

The supply adhered to specified design standards and dimensional requirements, ensuring compatibility with the bridge superstructure.

Why Ameenji Was Chosen

Ameenji Rubber Limited was selected based on its capability to deliver bearing systems compliant with railway infrastructure standards.

Relevant strengths include:

  • Manufacturing aligned with RDSO specifications and approved drawings
  • Experience in supplying components for bridge and transportation projects
  • Ability to produce dimensionally precise and load-compliant bearings
  • Established quality control processes for structural components
  • Capability to meet project-specific technical and application requirements

These factors ensured alignment with the technical and execution requirements of the ROB project.

Railway Over Bridges (ROBs)
  • Replace level crossings with grade separation
  • Eliminates traffic stoppage due to train movement
  • Improves safety and reduces accident risk
Approach Road Infrastructure
  • Integrates bridge structures with existing road networks
  • Ensures smooth transition and traffic flow continuity
Elastomeric Bearings
  • Absorb loads and allow controlled rotation
  • Reduce stress transfer to the substructure
  • Enhance the durability of bridge components
POT PTFE Bearings (Metallic Guided)
  • Accommodate higher loads and guided movement
  • Control directional displacement
  • Suitable for longer span applications (36 m span)
Standardized Engineering Design (RDSO Compliance)
  • Ensures uniformity in design and performance
  • Aligns with railway infrastructure requirements

The project is under execution as part of infrastructure development on the Amravati–Narkhed section.

Ameenji Rubber Limited has completed the supply of specified bridge bearing systems in accordance with project requirements.
